One Of My Favorite Ways To Spend An Afternoon

I’ve never considered myself a t v person.  Very few shows on television pique my interest enough to keep me tuned in for one episode, let alone come back for more or spend an entire afternoon watching reruns or marathons.  Most new shows just don’t really do it for me.  Give me back-to-back I Love Lucy, Leave It To Beaver, The Cosby Show, Sex and the City, or any Grey’s Anatomy, old or new, and I’m happy.  I also enjoy Food Network and a few shows on HGTV, two of which inspired this latest installment into my madness.

House Hunters and House Hunters International are, for me, completely addictive.  I absolutely love watching people/couples/families venture out and look at three different choices, seeing all the good and all the bad, before making their final decision about which house will best suit their needs, wants, and desires.  I love seeing what different places have to offer and what different budgets can afford you in different areas around the country and the world.  And I love trying to guess which place each person/couple/family will choose.  I’m only right about half the time but I think that’s because I’m so practical and such a cheap skate.

I often try to put myself in the buyers shoes and daydream about what I’d do with this room and how I’d enjoy living in that country and what colors I would paint this kitchen and where I would put my bed in that master bedroom.  And then there are also the episodes that just leave me with a dumbfounded wtf look on my face that actually sometimes falls right outta my mouth.  Ok, so it falls outta my mouth a lot more than just sometimes.  What can I say?  I’m a very vocal person and usually don’t mind giving my opinion, even if it is to people who can’t hear me on television.  You should hear me on any given Football Sunday when I get lucky enough to watch a select few teams play that get me going!  Not all NFL teams inspire me to yell and/or cheer at the television, but there are a few that do.

Ya know, when I think about it, I yell and/or cheer when I’m watching House Hunters or House Hunters International, too.  Sometimes even more vehemently than when my team’s losing or my arch enemy’s throwing a perfect game.  Some of the choices those people make just completely boggle me.  Some of them are so picky and impractical.  Others are just completely silly with some of the things they’re looking for in a home or how much they’re willing to pay for what seems like a dump.  Some of the couples are so mismatched and, God love ’em, some of the poor husbands don’t ever get to say more than two words because their obnoxious wives are constantly yapping.  It’s these episodes that leave me wondering what in the world is wrong with these people and how in the world could they choose that place.

Still, I find watching to be a peaceful, calming way to wind down at the end of the day.  Even if I do get a little revved up at times.  I’ve even gotten Mountain Man to watch with me and now I have someone who’s actually alive and breathing in the same room with me, who I can look over at with my best wtf look when one of the buyers does/says something really stupid.  And he gets it.

He gets me.

Have I mentioned just how much I love this man?
